Gawd, How I hate self help books!!!

The only thing that’s been holding me back from writing “pointless” blogs is that even this so called “write if u can” hobby has got some “etiquettes” pinged to it. So here I am trying to do the unconventional (usually I am a staunch follower etiquettes) by writing this little nonsensical article on “self help books”!!! (the exclamation is just to give it the hype which it doesn’t deserve :P)
Have you ever observed what an inspirational book or a self help- as it is popularly called -cover ? Perhaps, I would be happy to hear a “No” for this rhetorical question coz that validates the context I would be talking about. I write this (with Dave Matthews – Saying goodbye running in the background
) with a mild cold and flu , so I would “disclaim” any “thought provoking” statements as purely opinionated by me. Everyone’s free to make an opinion and trust me it costs nothing! I recently happen to read an autobiography and couldn’t help but think, perhaps, what does it take to write an autobiography that captures millions of hearts?(as mentioned on most of the testimonials!).
If you ever happen to re-read these books and try and match the contextual juice in them the resemblance is uncanny. Right from a run of the mill entrepreneur to a business tycoon, the story running from rags to riches takes you through similar cross roads. So what does it take to be rich and successful?? Struggle at childhood, supportive family and friends, some adventure, encounters with strangers who along the course of the story become an important characters in your history, times of adversities, your stubborn determination to overcome it ,a happy ending and plethora of blah-blahs. Well, English is a funny language. You have the aforementioned or similar "framework" of the context. So if the lords on me, and I claim to be famous (if not rich) all I would need is a knowledge of whimsical jargons and sprinkle a pinch of my sugar coated life incidents on the contextual juice (I am kinda beginning to like this phrase J) to whip out a wispy looking book that’ll eventually make it to the shelves of “crosswords”.
(Track changes to Stone temple pilots- creep) So the ever bothering question of what it takes to get there- there where you want to be- still remains unattended. But thanks to Mark Zuckerberg (pardon me for the spelling mistake) and celluloid. After watching “Social network” it struck me, like a brain stroke, that it isn’t what everybody thinks it is – rags to riches. (Please don’t mistake this for having double standards!!.. I am not enthralled and enlightened after watching the movie. But just supporting my views by quoting it). It just takes one thing ie “passion” for the good or bad. I ask myself, what am I so passionate about that I may skip my lunch go on for days without sleep. The answer is “nothing”!! I may want to be an entrepreneur and fancy a life driving a BMW 7 series and playing golf on Sunday (who am I kidding.. I’d rather go go-karting!!) (Track rolls to Dave Matthews Band - #41). Haan, I do have a passion to dream and dream big. So the focal point fades to being rich and famous but the route to it, rather, looks like my study desk. Less of books and more of unwashed clothes . (That reminds to collect my clothes from the college laundry. Sorry for the unwarranted details). I had a dream the other day. I am a rich man with a belly (donno how I developed that and stepping out a club with a few wealthy people by my side talking about a business venture. I appear to be fearless so much so that I sign a check for an idea that is , forget about being feasible or validated, I am total oblivious to. Why this detail? The point is , this pointless detail is just to ascertain that in the end it’s the green paper that matters to me and a few million like me. Don’t really bother how we churn them out. Sad as it may sound, we are all an empty big soul. As I look out of the window I see a bunch of kids playing in the play ground letting their life to serendipity. Yes, we are all here by chance. If it wasn’t then we wouldn’t be stupefied by consumerisms – in crude terms we wouldn’t be tagged stupid consumers. The successful business wouldn’t otherwise delve on this stupid need- want craporial analysis and launch products after products. Sorry for the digression, but I am only trying to emphasize my point that be it a wasted drug addict or an altruist, if you do have the passion to do what you’ve always wanted, and nonetheless have fun doing it you are , I firmly believe, closer to in the making of your own auto biography.
